You’ll find electric motors inside everything from industrial machinery to household appliances. Even when the equipment itself is completely dead, the motor can still have scrap value.
For businesses that regularly replace pumps, machinery, compressors, or other motor-driven equipment, old electric motors can become a significant recycling stream of their own.
2. Air Conditioning Units
If you’re looking for copper, old air conditioning equipment deserves attention.
AC systems can contain copper in the refrigerant lines, wiring, compressors, and copper-aluminum coils. Larger HVAC equipment can contain a considerable amount of recyclable metal.
This is why contractors replacing air conditioning equipment shouldn’t automatically treat the old system as something that simply needs to be hauled away.
